Elder Trevor Thompson - 1/23/12

Hola!
How is everyone?  Well i think its funny after seeing the pictures you guys think im living in a lot of poverty now well theres definatley more poverty here than in the us but theres also some pretty nice areas but as far as my area goes im mainly working with the people in poverty, but i think everyone has a cellphone although i havent seen the iphone yet dad but i have seen one of those ipad things. I havent had too many problems as far as people with tithing because we usually are teaching catholics here and they all know what it is and its not anything different for them. But as far as the best part of being a missionary, its hard to just pick one thing but the part i like the most would probably seeing the changes people make in their lives for God, we find people all the time that are just lost in life and their families are a wreck then after they start applying the things we teach them it seems like everything just starts working out for them in their lives and their families are together and happy. And as far as deciding who teaches what i think a lot of trainers start the missionaries off by switching each principle but right now me and my comp. we just kind of switch off naturally.
But this week went pretty good as well  we started teaching the parents of Lucy and Luciano who are awesome the mom still has a lot of questions but the dad will accept anything its so funny. but ya we also got them to go to church yesterday and the mom, Christina, said she understood everything that she learned and liked it alot. Then weve also been teaching the friends of Luci and Luciano too, Rios Family, who are doing awesome too and there all really excited to get baptized which is awesome and there mom is really supportive of us. Also were teaching the boyfriend of Jimena who is the girl that got baptized in the picture i sent you and they both want to get married and go to the temple as a family and hes progressing really fast and told us he wants to be baptized this saturday so be praying that Sergio can be baptized this weekend.
We also had a zone conference last week which was awesome and our mission presidents wife gave a cool talk to us she showed us a video of how a bunch of people were given a bar of soap and they had to carve it into art and then we saw all the cool different things that people made. Then she told us right now were like the bar of soap we have remove all the things from our lives which keep us from being the piece of art or living up to our potential. Well thanks for everything and have a good week.

¡Hola!
Happy Martin Luther King Day! How´s everyone doing? I havent heard of that movie the 2 brothers yet but is it like one of those movies like the best two years? it sounds pretty good. And i wouldnt be wishing for the heat to much cause were burning up a little here and wishing it was colder. Well everything sounds good, i sent you a couple pictures youll have to tell me if you get them. Two of them are from our apartment and the other is of the baptism of Jimena.
But ya we had a really good week last week. First off we were teaching Lucy and Luciano and a couple of their friends were there so we taught them too and asked if we could teach the family next time we come by cause they live next door to Lucy and Luciano so we went by and turns out there mom is a member but just really inactive so we taught her family and they were all really interested and so weve been teaching them and theyre understanding everything perfect. And on sunday we got them all to go to church with us along with Rosario and Daniel. The good thing is we got Daniel there for the first time and he liked it a lot. But ya mom the mornings are usually are for the investigators to go to church. Well thanks for everything, love you all.

Hola,
How´s everyone going? Well first off my and my comp. are both staying in this area, which we both kind of wanted because we have a lot of good people were working with. And Happy B-Day to Cooper and Ryan. But i cant believe Dawson is home, i just barely got a post card from his family and the Hatch´s so youll have to tell them thanks for me.But ya this last week went good for us, Lucy and Luciano both went to church on sunday and liked it alot and there both really excited to get baptized, but right now were trying to get the rest of the family more interested. And Daniel is doing good his reading and praying everynight with his wife, the only problem is i dont think he likes to wake up early to go to church but were going to talk to him today about that. And were also teaching and old lady called Rosario who is doing awesome shes already gone to church twice and shes real good friends with a member we have in the ward which seems to help a ton. We also had some girl run into us on the street last week(Paula) and asked if we could help her with her english for school so we went last week and taught her a little then talked about the gospel, so we have another appointment with her this week and well see how it goes because shes about as catholic as they get so pray that all goes well with her. But ya everything is good good here, thanks for everything you guys do.

Hola! and Happy New Year!
Hows everyone going?. But im a little jelous you guys went paintballing it seems like its been forever since ive done that.
But ya we had a pretty good new years weekend to Jimena was baptized and i got to do my first confirmation on sunday which was pretty cool. But ya we´ve got some investigators right now. Were working with two kids Lucy and Luciano who are awesome they read eveyrthing we giive them and always pray after the only hard thing is getting them to wake up in the morning to go to church with us. And were also working with someone called Daniel and his wife is a member and so hes been listening to us and hes even gone to one of the activities we had last tuesday and liked it alot it was hesitant at first because he thought our church was all gringos but then he went and found out that the only gringos are the missionaires. Well this is my last week of this transfer and me and my companion are both hoping that we get to stay because we have a lot of good people were working with right now. But its true its crazy how fast the mission goes i cant believe Jordan is going to be finishing in a month I dont know if i told you but in my last area there was a member from Brazil and i told her i had a cousin there and she told me the city hes in is such a beautiful city. But ya if theres one thing ive learned on my mission its the importance of setting goals a quote my mission president told us, that ive heard before but i liked it alot, is "if you dont know where your going it doesnt matter which path you take" and for that its important to have a goal in mind so you can know which path to take. But thanks for everything, love you all.

Hola!
Hows everyone doing back home? Oh and I got the package you sent me which was awesome its been awhile since ive had reeses. Well as far as the differences between here and my last place, is this area is a little bigger and its been raining alot here recently which i would take any day over the heat. And theres also a few more streets so its better on my shoes. But ya the ward here is really good there feeding us everyday and we have members that go with us to teach so over all its pretty good.
But ya this week went pretty good Jimena is still progressing good and wants to be baptized and now her friend is interested in the church because he can see all the changes shes making in her life and he wants to do the same. We also went by the house of Nicholas this week to teach him but turns out hes at his dads house for a couple of days. But we ended up talking with his mom and she invited us in and we started teaching her about what we believe and shes now interested, so when Nicolas comes back this week well be teaching him and his mom. And last saturday we had a stake activity where the stake put together a mini MTC experience with all the members who want to go on missions the all the members went on divisions with the missionaries. So saturday i spent the day with two of the members from the stake here which went really good. Well thanks for everything especially the package and have a good week.

Hola!
Hows everyone doing? Thats crazy our stake has one of the highest percentages of 20 missionaries. do you know what it is? Well my new area is awesome so far its been a little cooler than in Jujuy. and ya its been raining more recently, last night it rained pretty hard. My area here is bigger than my last one and to get around we either walk or take the bus it just depends on how far away the people were going to teach are. And no we dont have a car theres only one car in the whole mission and unfortunatley we dont have it. But ya our apartment is pretty nice, it must be one of the only apartments that has carpet.

Well this week went pretty good i got to meet all the members and investigators and so far the ward seems really good. Were teaching someone right now name Jimena who is doing really good shes reading all the pamphlets were giving her a filling out the questions on the back and the best part is she wants to be baptized, but unfortunatley theres a few things she has to take care of first. We also spent some time last week looking for new investigators because we didnt have to many. And during the week we ended up finding a lot of good people that we can teach, one of them being Nicolas, who is an awesome kid he ended up going to church with a friend and we met him their then we had a good lesson with him sunday night and he understood everything that we taught him perfectly which is exactly what you want to see when your teaching someone. Thanks for all the love and support.
